Our story

People often ask , “how did you get into candle making?”. We sometimes struggle to answer this question because to be honest, we sort of just fell into it and then ended up loving it!

The pandemic sparked a lot of change for us, as we’re sure it did for most families. One of the biggest changes we made during the pandemic was heavily reducing the amount of foods we consumed, containing artificial and toxic ingredients. So basically, clean(er) eating created a desire for clean(er) candles.

We watched a few YouTube videos, bought our candle supplies and made a candle. To our surprise, we did surprisingly well on our first try! There was a lot of wick testing involved before we were fully satisfied, but once we figured out which wicks we liked best, we were in business. Although this started as a hobby, we’ve always had a desire to be entrepreneurs in some capacity. Thus, Banks Wick Candles was born.

Since then, we have added wax melts, room sprays and car diffusers to our inventory, and have loved watching our small business grow. Candle making is fun, scientific, therapeutic and rewarding! We love working together, being in business together and creating art and beauty with our hands.

1 Thessalonians 4:11

“…aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your hands…”

What are Phthalates?

Phthalates are basically stabilizers that are typically used in candles to help the fragrance last longer and bind to the candle wax. However, these Phthalates can trigger issues with allergies, asthma, hormones, the immune system, certain cancers and more. This is why we’ve chosen to prohibit Phthalates from all of our products.
